NB. Revised time is now showing a little later as a Red Time for 1530 Local (on 28), and will be located on the WASP. Hopefully the weather will not close in too much.
The graceful World War II Boeing Catalina Seaplane CV14, GPBYA, is was originally due to arrive at Manston today (1300), and will be on display this afternoon by the Museum.
The Catalina fleet was a mix of amphibious Consolidated and Boeing built aircraft based out of various points in the Pacific. They were engaged in anti-submarine, shipping escort, and air-sea rescue and transport roles. From patrol missions to bombing raids, this flying boat served many purposes during WWII. Hundreds of them remained flying long after the war throughout the world.
